Kaywanna Bore Water Board

Code of Conduct

Adopted by the Kaywanna Bore Water Supply Board on 7 August 2002

This code applies to members and employees of the Kaywanna Bore Water Supply Board who are hereafter referred to as public officials.

1. Respect for the law and system of government.

A public official of the board shall: -

(a) uphold the laws of the State and Commonwealth; and

(b) carry out official decisions and policies faithfully and impartially.

2. Respect for persons.

A public official of the Board shall treat members of the public and other public officials honestly and fairly and with proper regard for their rights and obligations.

A public official of the Board shall act responsively in performing official duties.

3. Integrity.

A public official of the Board shall: -

(a) act in the interest of the Board and the community it serves;

(b) not improperly use their official powers or position or allow them to be improperly used;

(c) ensure that any conflict that may arise between the officials personal interests and official duties is resolved in favour of the Board's interest; and

(d) shall disclose fraud, corruption and maladministration of which they become aware.

4. Diligence.

In the performance of their official duties, public official of the Board shall exercise proper diligence, care and attention.

5. Economy and efficiency.

A public official of the Board shall ensure that the Board's resources are not wasted, abused or used improperly or extravagantly.

6. The Board shall ensure adherence to the rules (as updated) established when the piping scheme was approved by the ratepayers.
